Dry Towel, you make me cringe!
Let me preface this by saying that I am a very finicky towel handler. If the towel is wet, I have no problem man handling it, however if the towel is dry, we got problems. As I was getting out of the shower this morning, awaiting my wet hands was a dry bath towel. Like every morning, when getting out of the shower I have to deal with this teeth gritting material. If my hands are wet, I dont have too much of a problem, but if they are dry, I will cringe the entire time I am using one. I dont know what it is, but dry hands on a dry towel makes my hairs stand up, jaw lock, and eyes squint! I try to get the drying process over as quickly as possible. I suppose it is similar to someone who cant stand the sound of the high squeal a chalkboard makes when scratching it with an object, or even with fingernails (that actually bothers the hell out of me too). :D
For as long as I can remember, I have had this fear. Is fear the right word to describe the intense feeling I feel when handling a dry towel? There is just something about it, the texture of the towel on my dry palms and on the tips of my fingers. This is not an issue to anybody else I know or have spoken to, so why me? Did something psychologically traumatic happen upon me as a kid involving a dry towel?? I cant remember, and will probably never know the answer, so I will have to live with this phobia for the rest of my natural born life! Noo!!! Whats even worse than handling a dry towel would be chewing on one. Oh Lord, I can nearly freak myself out if I think about flossing with part of one, hahaha. That would truly be torture! :D I wonder how many people out there share this same sentiment. There has to be more than me, or is there.. Dry towel,.... you are my nemesis.
